Popular Hair Myths 2

Myth 1: There is a "mixed" hair type.

False: The myth was created solely by advertising, claiming that there is a rare type of hair, which is fatty at the roots and dry at the ends. Experts argue that this type of hair does not exist. Actually, about 80% of people with rather long hair belong to this type. Therefore, when choosing shampoo you should focus on the condition of your skin.

Myth 2: It is unhealthy to wash your hair frequently and washing it with one brand of shampoo for a long time is harmful for your hair.

False: This is a very popular myth. In fact, the head must be washed as often as it is necessary to maintain your hair clean. It depends, first of all, on its type. Today, all quality shampoos are rather gentle to your hair, so that you can wash it even daily. If shampoo suits you, you can use it entire life! But bear in mind that a skin of your scalp gradually becomes dry with age and, sooner or later, you’ll have to change even your most favorite shampoo. If your tastes change too frequently, and you are constantly changing shampoos, your hair can respond to this in many unpredictable ways, such as losing their natural shine. All of this, of course, does not apply to medical treatments – only the specialists should prescribe every particular treatment and determine it’s length.

Myth 3: Hair drying can damage your hair only if it is practiced daily.

False: To our big regret its not so. Of course, a hair dryer is very convenient, but also very harmful to the hair. Experts say that the drying hair should be done only in exceptional cases and only after using conditioner and even in that case, you should not be keeping dryer too close to the hair. But hair suffers not just from the hair dryer. Remember that all these damage hair: heated rollers, tongs, flat irons or crimpers. Hair is most vulnerable when wet. So before any type of such treatment you should dry your hair thoroughly.

Myth 4: If you start to drink vitamins and eat only healthy food, the hair will almost instantly improve.

False: This is just another myth, created in recent years by numerous media. Indeed, specialists believe that healthy diet improves hair condition. However, it will happen not sooner than in three months. Why not soon? The fact is that although the hair cells are the most productive in our body after the bone marrow, but they are also the first to suffer from poor nutrition and the last benefiting from recent recovery. What hair lacks usually in our diet? Many women receive too little protein with food, don’t eat meat, and many suffer from iron deficiency. Incidentally, the opinion of experts is that a good breakfast is the most important for beautiful hair. The multivitamins are certainly effective, but only in addition to a proper nutrition.

Myth 5: Mayonnaise makes hair smooth and shiny.

Yes, mayonnaise contains eggs and fats, which are among the major components of hair conditioners. But mayonnaise is not very useful because it is difficult to wash away, it leaves the hair feeling greasy, heavy and smelling like mayonnaise dressed salad. Try conditioners containing oils, vitamins and egg yolk. They nourish and strengthen hair, making it very bright, maintaining good hair color.
