Most Popular Myths About Hair


What do you know about hair? Haven’t you really thought that most of these are just myths? Now I’m going to examine some of the most popular hair myths and try to conclude, whether they are true or not.
So, first myth:
1. Doing a haircut makes your hair stronger and also makes it grow faster.
False: I don’t know, where this myth has originated from, maybe it is related to the fact, that the beard seems to grow faster if it is shaved frequently. But nevertheless, the hair on your head grows for 1,5 Sm. a month, regardless of what you are doing with it.
2. Split ends can be cured.
False: split ends can’t be cured. The only option is to immediately cut them off, or they will be splitting even more.
3. Frequent brushing is good for hair.
False: It’s just the opposite. Frequent brushing and combing may contribute to the split ends problem. It doesn’t mean, that you have to brush your hair once a month. Just don’t do it too frequently and too vigorously.
4. Tight hats can cause baldness.
False: This is true only if the person has other, much more serious reason to lose hair. The hat in this case can accelerate the process slightly.
5. People’s hair can turn gray overnight.
False: This is an interesting literary legend. The color of your hair is determined genetically, and the change of it is a very long process. Not only one night, but also a whole month won’t be enough.
6. At the place of one plucked gray hair two new will grow.
False: If this were true, many people with rare hair would gladly have taken advantage of this advice. In the end, white hair can be completely painted.
7. Genes, that determine, when and whether the person will become bald the person gets from his or her mother.
False: both mother’s and father’s genes determine, when the loss of hair of their child will begin. Loss of hair at men usually begins in the age of 18-20 years whereas at women it occurs in 45-55 years.
8. Dandruff is caused by dryness of a scalp.
False: Dandruff and a dry scalp are two different things. And different treatments are applied for these two conditions. Dandruff is an indicator of problems with health and sometimes demands treatment. But particles of dandruff are often fat, instead of being dry.
9. Dandruff can be picked up from someone.
False: At each person’s head there live microorganisms, which are capable to cause occurrence of dandruff. Whether you have dandruff or not depends greatly on your overall health and immunity. On the other hand, it is not necessary to use other's hairbrushes you can catch much more serious skin diseases through them.
10. Cutting your hair at full moon will make it stronger.
False: To our big regret. But you are free to try this scientific :) method.
